BAD WEBSITES EXAMPLES
1. Arngren.net
This website's homepage layout is overly compact and unstructured with different size imaging for products. The navigation system is unclear, and the categories are random, the search bar does not work making it extremely difficult for users to track down what they are searching for. The typography is also small and hard to read with some of the writing overlapping images and other texts. The choice of colours for this website's homepage seem to be bearable to look at without discomfort with red being a distinct colour for the value costs of products but colour choice for the name of the products seem to be random which can get confusing, with white for the background.
At a glance the website seems to have a variety of different products for users to browse and purchase which can seem appealing but with no proper structure and navigation, the website can be overwhelming for some which can result in users using a different website. When viewing a product, the website provides in depth information for specs on what is being viewed but while viewing a specific product the website also shows information on other multiple products which have not been selected to view, the information and images being provided for the products are closely compacted together in columns with some of the texts/images overlapping each other, this can be confusing for the user to see if they are reading the right information.
If a user were to purchase a product from the website, there is no clear and easy way to finalizing an order, this destroys the purpose of the website, as this can build frustration in the user resulting in them closing the website
2. Bella De Soto
This website's home page is a prime example of a bad design, as the creators have too much information packed in different segments where the eye doesn't know where to focus. This overload of information and colours without knowing where to read could cause a user to close the website within seconds of seeing it. Each segment is designed with a different variety of colours and imagery, giving the website no theme and being chaotic, regarding structure and layout, if a user were to zoom out to 25% it would still be difficult to track down the information they are enquiring. If the website does have a navigation system, it is extremely difficult to find. The writing for each segment varies in font and size, most of the writing/images are very small making it difficult for a user without zooming in, to see what the segment is about.
The information for each segment is random with no theme topic and can contain info from advertisements, news articles, links to untrusted websites, green peace movements to conspiracy theories and more. Nothing relates back to each other regarding one specific topic. Each segment does appear to come from real sources of information but without proper guidance to the segment, the information is pointless as it is difficult to find for a user and won't be read.
