Summary of Website

Image
Summary of Website My final design. For ease of creation, I was able to flow steadily designing my website according to my storyboards design including the typography, colour and layout with some tweak adjustments to where I saw fit to give the website a more enticing appeal. At first when I started adding features, I did struggle finding where each feature was hidden in Wix, but after a few video tutorials I eventually gained a better understanding of where each feature was, which led  me to start designing the site with a more structured creative flow.  I am happy with my end result for a first website, but I do see things I dislike about it and where I could improve. The main one being the three sections Dine ins, Upcoming Events and Accommodations being too compact at the bottom of the page. I was trying to go for an all-in-one section, so a user doesn't have to scroll constantly to find one of the three sections. I would say the all-ar...

Final Design Decisions

Image
Final Design Decision s For my home page story boards layout, for the heading I have chosen to have the Title up the top centered in the middle with the navigation below it, I will be using Arial Black for the font with a black background and will be having the font color as white. For the body of the homepage, I will be using white for the background with the sections as followed: - Picture of Mount Taranaki - Title/Paragraph introduction - Font: Calibri - Color: White/Black - Map of New Plymouth/Taranaki - Pictures showcasing New Plymouths activities, locations, accommodations and dine ins - Contacts/Site feedback section For the footer I will have nothing but have the color as black similar to the heading, I have chosen the heading and footer to be the same color, as because for a design idea I want my heading/navigation to be constantly shown even when a user is scrolling down the page so when the heading meets the footer you will only see the connected black co...

Web Development Platform

Image
Web Development Platform post For my web development platform, I decided to use the free version of Wix  https://www.wix.com. From the moment after creating and signing in to Wix then naming your website, it starts off by allowing you to select out of three types of homepage designs, these presets can be customizable to be changed to how you prefer later on in the edit page section. I selected the middle preset, as it resembled the storyboard I created.  In the next step, Wix offers to add pages to your website, that come with different apps and widgets that you can choose from to which you think best suits your site. I selected what I deemed fit and proceeded to make my website. The setup procedure using Wix was simple and quick. During the creation of my website, I found the whole process to be easy and relaxing as all the options to add features and apps were all located on the left side of Wix. From top to bottom being Add Elements, Add Section, Pages & Menu, Si...

Coding post

Coding My experience with coding. The main website I used to help me with coding was YouTube. One YouTube channel in particular, called 'Programming with Mosh'. He teaches primarily beginner level coding for Python and other languages such as JavaScript and Csharp. One video he has on his channel 'Python for beginners - Learn Python in 1 Hour' helped a lot. He simplifies everything and has timestamps available to select from, for each section he is describing. After using python for a few months now, my understanding of how to use it has significantly increased, compared to when I first saw a set of basic coding. For a beginner it did take me a while to fully understand what is happening but with proper explanations and continuous work I eventually caught on.  Useful tips I recommend for python are using the built-in library functions and modules, prewritten by expert developers. This helps to speed up writing code as the functions are alre...

Website Evaluation post

Website Evaluation post BAD WEBSITES EXAMPLES 1. Arngren.net ATV, drone, electric car, electric bike, rc helicopter, ATV, robot, elatv (arngren.net) This website's homepage layout is overly compact and unstructured with different size imaging for products. The navigation system is unclear, and the categories are random, the search bar does not work making it extremely difficult for users to track down what they are searching for. The typography is also small and hard to read with some of the writing overlapping images and other texts. The choice of colours for this website's homepage seem to be bearable to look at without discomfort with red being a distinct colour for the value costs of products but colour choice for the name of the products seem to be random which can get confusing, with white for the background. At a glance the website seems to have a variety of different products for users to browse and purchase which can seem appealing but with no proper struct...
